Don Bachardy

born: Los Angeles, California, US; 1934
lives: Santa Monica, California

He studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and the Slade School of Art in London. His first one-man exhibition was held in October, 1961 at the Redfern Gallery in London. He was the life partner of the novelist Christopher Isherwood until Isherwood's death in 1986.

 

The following pictures are from the book October by Bachardy and Isherwood documenting October 1979 with a diary of the month by Christopher Isherwood and pictures done during the month by Don Bachardy.
