died: Holland; 1972

 

Raised in Holland, lived in Italy from 1921 to 1935; most of his life after that was spent in Switzerland. His interest in tessalations and in fourth-dimensional abstractions, for which he is famous, occurred relatively late in his life, starting around 1936.
