Ancient Egyptian art has been divided into several era galleries each covering two or three historical periods. There is some doubt about the absolute dates involved here; for more information see the paragraph on chronology before the list of Egyptian Pharaohs.
To visit a gallery select the name, the magic Ankh, or Sehk symbol, and you will be magically whisked to the proper gallery. These galleries have more information about the art and a little history to make the images more meaningful. Unlike other places in the museum, where selecting a thumbnail image with your mouse gets you a larger version of the picture, here they will transport you to the detailed gallery instead.
